Demonstrations pushing for Increased funding and staffing for healthcare in Ontario
Demonstrations to push the provincial Liberal government for increased funding for hospitals and long-term care are planned for: October 27 in Ottawa and February 6 in Oshawa, May 8 in Toronto and October 10 in Toronto.
Following the demonstration in Kingston on October 27, the provincial government announced an additional 1% in funding for Ontario's hospitals. While this brings funding for hospitals in this year to 3%, their real operating costs are close to 5%.
These demonstrations are pushing for funding for hospitals and long-term care that would cover their real costs on an ongoing basis.
